What would it take to PLAY MORE in your life & Business?

I went to the Minneapolis College of Art & Design as an adult, squeezing my classes between kids and running a business. Time was at a premium and play certainly wasn’t on my to-do list.  Surprisingly, neither was creativity or productivity. There was so much to do, that I was simply going through the motions!
One of the classes I took was a design class taught by a retired architect. I don’t remember his name, yet he had a very memorable way of running his classes projects and homework to maximize the output in the least amount of time. This class met once a week, and he taught us the “Creativity Formula” so that we would always finish our work and show up with a quality project. It so profoundly affected the way I approach creative work, problems, well, you name it, that I have decided to share it with you too.
I’ve included an infographic (above). Click on it and you can download and print to help you remember, but it’s pretty simple.

Creativity Formula:

Day 1: Brain Dump.

Write down everything you currently know about the project or challenge that you have in front of you. (If you are writing a blog on a intuition, you would start there, writing down everything you currently know about it….if you know a lot, you can paraphrase here.)

Day 2: Research

This is when you look in books, online, ask friends what they know about that ‘thing’. (In the case of the blog project, you would google search it, do a Facebook poll, or ask an expert what they know about intuition.)

Day 3: Play

Day 4: Play

Day 5: Play

Day 6: Play

Day 7: Create your project, solve your challenge, write your blog, etc.  It will flow effortlessly, almost magically!

You have tapped into the universal energy of FLOW.  How? By PLAYING!

This works 100% of the time.
